How to Look Cute While Running Errands

If you’re in the northeast right now -- completely shut off from the outside world -- you’re likely dreaming of the days when you could run errands. Because, you know what? Having no work and no school is great…until you realize you’re stuck in the house with a bored husband, three crazy kids, and a dog who doesn’t understand why he has to go to the bathroom on a patch of astroturf in the garage. Snow days: so great in theory, so terrible in real life.

The good news is that the snow won’t last forever. Unless, of course, this is a repeat of 2010’s Snowmageddon, in which case, godspeed, sisters. May you have enough wine and Diet Coke to make it through another day.

So while we all dream of warmer weather, a moment away from our children, and the ability to leave the house without the 98 percent certainty of getting in an accident, we thought it would be fun to put together a few casual looks for when you are able to leave those four walls that seem to be looming in on you with each passing Real Housewives episode you watch.

While you can wear our pants for pretty much any occasion (still figuring out our line of formalwear -- Oscars 2017, we’re coming for ya….), regular, casual everyday wear seems to be the most common. And because we oftentimes fall into routines of wearing the same pair of leggings with the same chambray shirt and the same pair of riding boots whenever we need to run to Target, the grocery store, or a parent-teacher meeting, below are a few new options to add to your weekly wardrobe circulation.

Sleek Cheeks Leggings, On Top: Long Sleeve Top, Hunter Boots, Plaid Blanket Scarf

For whatever reason, it seems like whenever it’s yucky outside, you have about 10 million and one errands you have to run. So, rather than attempt to ignore the fact that it’s raining cats and dogs outside, we’re here to tell you that you should embrace it. Yes, that’s right. Embrace it.

For rainy days, we suggest wearing our classic  Sleek Cheeks Leggings, throwing on one of our On Top: Long Sleeve Tops, adding on a plaid or animal print blanket scarf for a pop of color, and then pairing it all with weather-welcoming Hunter Boots. You’ll be comfy, cute, and ready to greet whatever nastiness Mother Nature has planned for you. Oh, and add a topknot to complete the outfit. Ain’t nobody got time to look like they’ve got a wet dog crawling around on their head.

Booty Patootie Bootcut Pants, Monogrammed Quarter Zip, Simple Stud Earrings, Colorful Running Shoes just don’t want to wear real clothes. Believe us, we get that. And so even on the days when changing out of your bathrobe seems like a lot of work, we’ve got you covered. For whatever reason (and believe us, we’re not complaining), the athletic look is “in” this year.

Open up a page of People, Us Weekly, or In Touch, and every single paparazzi picture of a celebrity shows them looking like they’ve just left the gym. And, yeah, we know they work out a lot, but we’re also not stupid. We can see the takeout boxes and the Starbucks and the groceries in their hands. And if stars can go out to eat looking like the just came from a pilates class? Then good god, so can we.

The most important thing to remember about running errands in athletic attire is that you can’t wear real athletic attire. Real athletic attire (for us, at least) includes shorts that aren’t forgiving, and spandex that makes us look all lumpy, and bras that don’t lift...anything. That is for the gym and the gym only.

So on those days where you want to be comfy, look like you’re in stellar shape, and still appear like you’ve totally got it together, we suggest going for a faux-workout look. Or, if you’d rather, a faux-out look. Yes, that’s a word. Look it up.

Pair our  Booty Patootie Bootcut pants with an adorable monogrammed zip up, add on your favorite colorful tennis shoes and a pair of simple studs, and you are good to go, lady. All of the other moms will think you’re the most fashionable athlete, like, ever.

Skinny Jeans, Riding Boots, On Top: Long Sleeve Top, On Top: Poncho

If you need to run errands on your lunch break or your day includes a slightly “dressier” event, we’ve got the perfect solution for you. While we’re not fans of jeans, we know that every once in awhile they need to be dusted off the shelf in the closet and brought back out into the world. So, on days when leggings of any kind just won’t do, we suggest wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans, black or brown (your choice!) riding boots, our On Top: Long Sleeve Top, and our On Top: Poncho. Pair with a sleek pony, fun statement earrings, and a pop of color on the lips and you are good to go, girlfriend. Plus, this outfit can take you from day to (casual date) night if, after a million and one trips around town, you realize that the last thing you want to do is make dinner. It’s a win-win for everyone, really.
